Manor Park Primary Academy needs you help

A request from club stalwart Jimmy:

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Jimmy
and I’ve been part of Sutton Coldfield Hockey
Club for over twenty years

As well as playing hockey I also work at Manor Park Academy
(children aged from 4-11) in Aston, Birmingham.
Last term I took it upon myself to sort out the wet-play boxes for
each class, as I was tired of seeing children sitting in front of a
screen before the next lesson began

Flashback to my own childhood, I have fantastic memories of
playing games, drawing and colouring with my classmates.
These activities offer more than just a stimulosus, but also an
opportunity for children to develop good social skills.
Covid has a lot to answer for, including leaving children with
fewer social skills. Therefore, this plea will hopefully contribute
towards improving their social and emotional wellbeing.
Our innercity children will never have had this experience, in school or at
home

This campaign I have set up aims to provide engaging
alternatives to watching something on a screen during the
miserable wet-play days in Aston

Unfortunately, Manor Park has no budget available to purchase
second-hand games for the children’s use (let alone brand new).
It would be great to replace the incomplete jigsaws, playing card
pack, and Jenga sets

We are looking for people to donate their unused games that may
be collecting cobwebs in cupboards at home. These games need
to be completed in twenty minutes or less, otherwise the children
could potentially get frustrated that they don’t get the chance to
finish

Examples of the games we are looking for include:
- Playing cards
- Snakes and Ladders
- Top Trumps
- Happy Families
- Jenga
- Any game created by ORCHARD TOYS
- Marble Run
- Frustration
- Uno
- Chess/draughts
- Connect 4
- Small Jigsaws with less than 50 pieces
- Guess Who
- any game your family enjoyed and is quick and easy to play for primary age children

You can donate your games at the club house on Saturdays
or at junior training on Sundays, bring them down to training and we will try and make it obvious where to leave donations
